  • Over the age of 65; and
  • An individual who requires coordinated services and supports to assist them with independently living in their home.

The Home Care Package

The amount of funding you receive will depend on the level of your package. There are four levels of Home Care Packages to meet different care and support needs. Each Home Care Package level receives a set amount of funding from the government that can be used to pay for care and support services.

Basic assistance is designed to give you a little extra support to help you stay independent. Generally, this level of care would provide you with 3 hours of support services a week which could be used for general cleaning around the home, personal care, meal preparation, shopping assistance and transport.

Generally, low-level care allows for approximately 6 hours of supports a week which could be used for personal care, domestic assistance, loan of basic care equipment, social support, meal preparation, shopping, transport and gardening maintenance.

Intermediate-Level Care allows you to combine day-to-day support with some higher-level care. A level 3 HCP (Home Care Package) would allow for approximately 12 hours of services and could be used to assist you with maintaining a tidy house, meal preparation, allied health support, shopping, transport and community access or specialised nursing support.

A Level 4 Home Care Package will give you approximately 18 hours of supports and services per week, which could be used to assist you with personal care, domestic assistance, assistance with aids and appliances, social support, meal preparation, nursing care, allied health support, shopping, community access and transport.
